The Theory
The theory is divided into 5 chapters. For each chapter, you will watch a video while answering multiple choice knowledge review questions. You may also reference the PADI textbook to provide additional information on any of the concepts. After each chapter, the instructor will review the questions with you and thoroughly explain any points you missed or areas where you need clarification.

After each chapter, you will have a closed book quiz with 10 questions. This is to help reinforce your knowledge and prepare you for the final exam.

The final exam contains 50 multiples choice questions and you will need to score 75% or higher to pass. Don’t worry, all of our instructors will prepare you well in advance.

Alternatively, you may enroll in an e-course and complete your theory work in advance. Please contact us for more details.

The Confined Water
Once you have a good understanding of the diving theory, we will head to our on-site pool for hands-on skills training. The instructor will run through the steps for a number of different skills, and provide a demonstration for each. After the demonstrations, you will be asked to practice the skill, and perform it until you can complete it with ease. Don’t worry, we will practice the skills together and do not hesitate to take extra time if needed.

We will complete two dives in the pool at a maximum depth of 12m.

The Open Water Dive
In order to complete your training, we will complete two dives in the ocean with a maximum depth of 18m. At the beginning of each dive we will repeat a series of skills you already practiced during the confined sessions (it usually takes 5 – 10 minutes at the beginning of each dive). After we complete the skills, we go into exploratory mode and search for marine life.

The certification
The PADI Open Water Diver license is recognized worldwide and valid for life, allowing you to dive independently to 18 meters max. This experience will expand your understanding of the ocean and how lucky we are to explore the wonders it holds.

The course requires clients to be over 15 years old, and complete 5 theory lessons, 5 confined water dives and 4 open water dives, and generally takes 4 days.

Day 1
Start at 8:00 in the morning at the dive shop. We will complete 3 theory modules which consist of watching videos for chapters 1, 2, and 3.  You will take quizzes for each chapter out of the book and review all questions and answers together.

Around 12:00 we will take a break for lunch and resume around 13:00 to begin confined water dives 1 and 2 in the swimming pool.

Day 2
We start at 8:00 in the morning at the dive shop. We complete the last 2 theory modules which consist of watching videos for chapters 4 and 5. Upon completion, you will do the knowledge review and quiz 4. After the quiz is complete, you will take the final exam. Once the  theory is out off the way, we will proceed to the  swimming pool for confined water dives 3, 4 and 5.

Day 3
Now its time to put the skills to practice and do some real diving in the ocean. We start at 7:00 in the morning and will go to one of our dive sites around Rote island. We are going to make 2 Open water dives.

Dive 1 is a dive without any skills just to have fun and experience the underwater world.

Dive 2 we will practice a couple of skills in the open water that will take about 15 minutes. After this we will explore the reef of Rote and underwater life.

We will return to the resort around 12:00. After this its up to you to do what you want to do — maybe go for a surf or relax for the rest of the afternoon.

Day 4
We start at 7:00 in the morning and go on a trip to a different dive site around Rote and complete dives 3 and 4 of the PADI open water course. We will complete a few skills during each dive.  After the skills are complete, we will have enough time to explore the reef of Rote Island and all of the fish and life that we discover. After we come back to the resort, your PADI dive instructor will certify you and issue a temporary card. Your official certification will be send to your home address.
