Michiel “Mike” Veenstra is the head instructor at Surf Dive Rote, based at the legendary Anugerah Beach Resort. He began diving in 2000 while on a trip through Australia. During his career underwater, he has completed more than 3,000 dives and counting.
He has worked for dive schools in Indonesia and Thailand, and after a couple of trips to Rote, he saw the potential for a top level dive operation on this emerging island.
A Dutch citizen, Mike has been living in Indonesia for nearly a decade, which gives him a great understanding of how things work here, and how to resolve any issues you may face on your trip, ensuring a smooth and easy experience for all his clients.
As well as an intense passion for diving, when he is not blowing bubbles under the sea, he can generally be found surfing the epic waves at Nemberala.
His friends know him as a relentlessly upbeat character, who loves to have fun, and his clients will also attest to this fact. His partnership with Erasmus (Moose) Frans, the owner of Augerah Surf and Dive Resort, puts two of the nicest guys you’ll meet as your hosts, a combination that has proved highly successful for their guests.
